With Folded Hands and Believing Heart…

My son has a burden and prayer request to share and I wanted to give him the floor today.  I’ve also asked him to write a bit on his journey and I expect him to do that soon.  But for now, here’s his heart on a matter of great importance:

I’m not as good a writer as my dad (this is Graham, by the way), I don’t really blog but this has been on my heart and I need your prayers. While I was away I gave everything to God.  He can take on any situation.  He takes it on like a warrior!  My God can do anything.  I asked him to graduate me on August 19, which, to New Hope Academy (Teen Challenge ministry’s school for boys) standards, is completley impossible; in fact they told me I was going to have to wait a “few” weeks after my contract was due.  My contract was due the 15th of august and I graduated the Sunday after that–the 19th!  By God’s grace I am the only boy in the history of NHA to ever finish six contracts in six months and graduate all in that time span.  See what my God can do!

Now I am a senior in high school but don’t have one to go to.  We have gone to my former christian school and they felt it best not to have me back (and I respect that completely).  Another area (christian) school has decided not to take a risk on me as a bad influence.  But my God can do anything!  I think that there is a school for me but I need guidance.  The Holy Spirit isn’t silent; I think he just wants me on the edge of my seat.

Please pray for my parents.  My dad is undergoing extreme amounts of stress and my Mom too. Pray that the Lord works something out. Remember: God can do anything!  He can do the impossible. The impossible right now for me is school. Please pray for me!  Love you all.  And for my New River family, I am looking forward to seeing y’all next Sunday.  Got a few things to share but thats a surprise. PEACE!!!

Love,
Graham (they call me ‘BIG BOY’)

    Graham,

I don’t think I ever got to “officially” meet you, but I have been praying for you and your family. Your story is very inspiring and teaches us all that if we only surrender to His will, God can and sometimes will move heaven and earth in order to give us the desires of our hearts.

Testimonies like yours keep the rest of us encouraged to march faithfully on, believing God will accomplish His plans for us.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us today. I will be praying that the LORD will lead you and your family to the right school for you where you can be a light to those living in darkness. I will also be praying that His peace will reign in your household so that the stress will disolve into calmness and faith that you are all exactly where He wants you.

Many blessings on you Graham – I am so glad you are back and look forward to getting to know you (at the River).

I knew there was something special about the “Big Boy” that I put my arms around on that day after you got home. Maybell was not the only one who was glad to see you.
Graham, God’s got his hand on you so don’t be inpatient to get ahead of Him. You’ve already learned a lot about the process of waiting on Him.
You’ve got a really big family pulling for you.

    Hi Graham,

I feel like I’ve known you and your dad my whole life, and yet I’ve never met either one of you in person…must be an eternal life thing or something.

All I know is that you have a hekuva community on your side at New River (and beyond).

In Christ, we have entered into a whole new world of love, life, peace, security, and sooo many other things. We are more blessed than we know.

The Lord will provide for you, my brother.

It’s great seeing and hearing from you here.

I can not begin to tell you what it does for my heart to hear those words from your hand, “My God”. Your right nothing is impossible with our God. He has the place pick out, the people put in place for them to minister to you and you to minister to them. Just hold, weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning.

    I love you, Buddy
And I can’t wait till Sunday wait is it my kids week. please tell me no.

    Graham,

I prayed for you this morning. The Lord tells us to boldly approach the throne of grace and make our requests known. I believe that if we pray specifically, that God will answer us specifically.

I have known your Dad for a long time and I have been praying for him for many years. I will add you to my prayer list and ask that the Lord provide for your need.

    Graham (“Big Boy’),
Knowing your God is a marvelous thing (as your heart testifies to) and resting in His providence and sovereignty- (our greatest challenge at times yet a place of experiencing His love and power over this worldly system with it’s deception and lies),is our call.
In wanting to encourage- and trusting the Lord to do that here-I pray for you to resist the enemy in his attempts to shed any sort of doubt or create any sort of alarm concerning your schooling. He’s a liar!!!!!!
As I need to do-worship your God with everything that you have. His plans and purposes for you are settled and true.
You have much to share in what the Lord has done in and through you and as you continue to rest in His ways -and pass through the shadows that have been designed by the enemy to disrupt the way -He will light your path and your sole desire will be to and for His glory and honor.
Your heart for your parents in this is honoring to God and there is promise in that!!!!
Just keep lifting that voice of yours to the Lord and asking Him to be everything to and for you.
I pray the place for your schooling to be one that needs and will embrace a move of God released by the Holy Spirit to bring renewal and refreshing. (AWAKEN)
Oh-the ways of our God are beyond finding out but how sweet the journey and satisfying to the soul as we learn to trust and obey.
A side thought here is-Wesley would have never chosen Wesley college in MS (he had his mind and heart settled on something altogether different). Try as he might to force his hand and make the way for himself-praying people and God Who -knew his need, what preparation was needed, what challenges and trials he needed to insert to try and test Wesley’s faith etc….. made a way where there seemed no way. God’s heart for this generation is being made known to those who will let Him show it and do it. It’s not about us (as I know you have expereinced) and His greatest desire is to place you where He knows you will make it all about Him.
    You’re in our prayers brother,
    With blessed assurance-your sister!!!!

PS… Found this on my e-mail this morning (Heartlight-Praying with Paul) after writing and thought this a good prayer for your situation,
    2 Timothy 3:1-9
    http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2+Timothy+3:1-9

    Dear Father, Savior,

Undergird me with your grace during the days of stress that are present in these last times.

Keep me from going in the direction that people of the world are going. Don’t let me be a lover of self, a lover of money, proud and arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents. Don’t let me be ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, a slanderer, profligate, fierce, a hater of good, treacherous, reckless. Don’t let me be swollen with conceit, a lover of pleasure rather than loving you, holding the form of religion but denying the power of it.

Help me to avoid people who do all these terrible things. Help me to witness to them about your call to change their attitudes.

In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Hey JT and all—God has moved mightily in this! Just today (Tuesday the 4th) we should know definitely about the most divinely-ordered situation for our son! I’m waiting just now for word about the interview. It is an amazing open door and our Shepherd has moved mountains, stilled storms, ordered steps and been God Almighty! I will let Graham tell the story by leaving word either here in the comments section or in a posting.

Blessings on you all who have offered up prayers so faithfully.

You have been Christ to us.
